Calcium A 25 year
study ending in 1997 by the Finland National Public Health Institute on
4697 cancer-free women aged 15-90, concluded that there was “an overwhelming
association between the high consumption of milk and the prevention
of breast cancer compared to other factors.” “Calcium Takes Its Place As a Superstar of Nutrients” Jane Brody, October 13, 1998, New York Times “Calcium is fast emerging as the nutrient of the decade, a substance with such diverse roles in the body that virtually no major organ system escapes its influence. A research team at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles reported in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that adding calcium to the diet lowered blood pressure. Dr. Susan Thy-Jacobs, gynecologist at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York believes that, “a chronic deficiency or imbalance of calcium is largely responsible for the disruptive symptoms of PMS suffered by women.” Dr. Martin Lipkin of the Strang Cancer Research Laboratory at Rockefeller University in New York said that, “Animal research indicated that increasing calcium levels to protect epithelial cells from cancer might also help prevent cancer in such organs as the breast, prostate and pancreas.” “Calcium’s Powerful, Mysterious Ways”, Jennifer Couzin, May 3, 1999, U.S. News & World Report. “Researchers are increasingly finding that the humble mineral, calcium, plays a major role in warding off major illnesses from high blood pressure to colon cancer. You name the disease and it’s beginning to have a place there,” says David McCarron , a nephrologists at the University of Oregon Health Sciences in Portland. “In the past year, calcium has also been reported to reduce premenstrual symptoms, and it may protect against heart disease.” The January 14, 1999 issue of the Phoenix Republic wrote in an article entitled, “Calcium Reduces Tumors,” that the New England Journal of Medicine reported, “adding calcium to the diet can keep you from getting tumors in your large intestine.” February, 1999 issue of the Readers Digest wrote in an article entitled, “The Superstar Nutrient,” that the Journal of the American Medical Association published, “when the participants consumption reached 1500 milligrams of calcium a day, cell growth in the colon improved toward normal.” 1999, The British Medical Research Council recently
completed a 10 year study that looked at the health of 5000 men aged
between 45-59. Only 1 percent
of those who regularly drank more than one-half liter (about one-half
U.S. quart) of milk a day suffered heart attacks in the study period,
against 10 percent of those who drank no milk at all (a ten-fold reduction).
Also, drinking more than one-half of a liter further reduced
the incidence of heart attack. “The
association between milk drinking and lower heart attack risk was
absolutely clear, and there was no significance about what type of
milk: full, semi skimmed or
full skimmed,” reported Dr. Ann Fehily, team researcher. Yugi Hirota, Ph.D., Takashi Sugisaki, Ph.D., Medical Preventive Group Laboratory, MPG Co., Ltd. 2-41-18 Sumida, Sumida-ku, Tokyo, Japan 131 “Coral Calcium exhibited an inhibitory effect on the growth of cancer cells.” Paul Terry, John Baron, Lief Bergkvist, Lars Holmberg, and Alicia Wolk, “Dietary Calcium and Risk of Colorectal Cancer: A Prospective Study in Women,”, Nutrition and Cancer, 43(1), 39-46, Department of Epidemiology, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, “Our data suggests that high calcium intake may lower colorectal cancer risk.” Harold Newark, and Martin Lipkin, Cancer Research (Suppl) 52, 2067-2070, April 1, 1992, Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, Rutgers University, College of Pharmacy , New Jersey “In human subjects at increased risk for colon cancer, hyper-proliferation of colon epithelial cell was reduced after oral dietary supplementation with calcium.” DEATH BY DIET, by Robert R. Barefoot, contains many more scientific quotes and references that illustrate the benefits of calcium, vitamins and other minerals. You may order DEATH BY DIET from the homepage. Cesium In 1979, Dr. K. Brewer described in a publication, The Mechanisms of Carcinogenesis (Journal of IAPM, Volume V, No.2) the use of cesium and rubidium salt to treat cancer patients. In 1985, Dr. H. Sartori described in a publication, Cancer, Orwellian or Eutopian? (Life Science Universal Inc.), the successful treatment of terminal cancer patients with cesium salts. In the latter study, initiated in April 1981, fifty terminal cancer patients, with only days to live and three of whom were comatose, were given vitamins, minerals and cesium chloride. Ten of the patients has breast cancer, nine had colon cancer, six had prostate cancer, four had pancreas cancer, five had lung cancer, three had liver cancer, three had lymphoma, one had Ewing sarcoma pelvis, one had adeno cancer, and eight had unknown primary cancers. With all fifty patients, conventional treatment had failed and the patients had been sent home to die. The chances of even one surviving was one in a million. Amazingly after two weeks of cesium treatment, only twelve had died (including all three comatose patients), and their autopsies showed that their cancer was benign at the time of death. The cesium treatment was continued for two more weeks and after one year the survival rate was an incredible 50%. Further research was carried out jointly by Brewer and Sartori with even greater success. Bob Barefoot & Carl J. Reich M.D., THE CALCIUM FACTOR Parts of the world that have high levels of strong alkaline minerals in their water have a very low incidence of cancer. The Hopi Indians have water that contains rubidium and potassium while the Hunzas of Northern Pakistan have water high in cesium and potassium. The Hopis and Hunzas do not develop cancer unless they move away from their homeland. The most alkaline minerals (cesium, rubidium, potassium) are able to enter cancer cells. Their strong alkalinity, particularly that of cesium, causes the ph within the cell to rise to values of 8 or higher because they affect ph more than the weak acid (lactic acid) within the cancer cell. In the very alkaline state cancer cells can survive for only a few days or less depending on the degree of alkalinity present in the cancer cell. Dr. James Howenstine, MD. Chiu, October 16, 2004, Vol 166, #16, Page 248, University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine, May 1, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. “Vitamin D may play a role in the prevention of diabetes as well as of cancer. Many studies have linked vitamin D deficiency to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, which used to be called adult-onset diabetes. Vitamin D deficiency is a double jeopardy for type 2 diabetes.” “When the VDR’s (Vitamin D Receptors) are full of Vitamin D (about 5000 IU Vitamin D is required for this) then the intestine is capable of absorbing 2000% more calcium.” Bob Barefoot, THE DISEASE CONSPIRACY, 2005 “Induction of Ovarian Cancer Cell Apoptosis (cell death) by Vitamin D Through Down Regulation of Telomerase” The Journal of Biol. Chem Vol. 279, Issue 51,, 5323-53221, December 17, 2004, Departments of Pathology and Interdisciplinary Oncology. “Our studies have shown that the growth of cancer is suppressed by vitamin D. Vitamin D has been shown to induce apoptosis (cell death) in several human cancer cells, but little is known about the underlying mechanism. Besides decreased growth rate, cancer cells lost their ability to regrow after the removal of vitamin D if they had been treated continuously for longer than 6 days.” May 22, 2005, Phoenix Arizona Republic, “Vitamin D Research Turning Sunscreen Wisdom on Head” The thinking that even if too much sun leads to the non lethal skin cancer, too little sun may be worse. “I find the evidence that the sun prevents cancer to be mounting and increasingly compelling.” Dr. Allen Halpern M.D., Dermatology chief, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center May 25, 2005, Sunshine’s Role in Making Vitamin D, The Associated Press, Dr. Edward Giovanncucci, Harvard University Professor of Medicine and Nutrition “I would challenge anyone to find an area or nutrient or any factor that has such consistent anti-cancer benefits as vitamin D. The data are quite remarkable.” Robert R. Barefoot’s latest book, THE DISEASE CONSPIRACY,
contains many more scientific quotes and references illustrating the
benefits of Vitamin D. You
